
QUIMPAC S.A., formerly
known as Química del Pacífico S.A.,
was founded in 1964 to deal with the production
and commercialisation of caustic soda, chlorine,
dicalcium phosphate and other chemical products
as well as industrial and domestic salt.
In
1994 QUIMPAC
acquired EMSAL S.A. (Empresa de la Sal S.A.) becoming
the major producer of salt in the country.
In
1997 QUIMPAC
acquired the Paramonga Chemical-Paper Complex (ex
W.A. Grace - Sociedad Paramonga LTDA) duplicating
the production capacity of its chemical plant and
entering into the paper business.
QUIMPAC
is at present the sole integral producer of salt,
chemical products and paper rolls in Peru, and one
of the five main producers of chlorine-soda in South
America.
